The ODOT Greene County Full Service Maintenance Facility is a new full service maintenance facility for the Ohio Department of Transportation’s District 8 fleet designed to house 40 full-time employees and maintain 16 heavy duty class “E” ODOT vehicles. The facility is fully fitted with a 31,575 SF main operations building with 4,000 SF of administrative office space, 19,230 SF of heated truck storage, and an 8,345 SF vehicle maintenance facility. Included within the vehicle maintenance facility is two vehicle maintenance bays with lift stations, one vehicle welding bay, a parts storage room, and drive-through wash bay. The truck storage and vehicle maintenance bays are fitted with a 1-ton mono-rail crane and a 3-ton bridge crane respectively. Ancillary facilities are situated throughout the 12 acre site.
The building design employed the use of a pre-engineered metal building system with an insulated metal panel skin for walls and roof to meet current IECC continuous insulation requirements for metal buildings. A brick wainscot is incorporated around the administrative offices for aesthetic curb appeal.
Additional components on site include a 9,700 SF salt storage building, 4,300 SF of material storage, a 10,400 SF cold storage building, an above-ground fueling station, and brine maker / dispensing system. Salt storage and cold storage buildings employed the use of pre-fabricated tensile fabric structures in order to save cost over other building construction methods.
