Columbus City School’s North High School, originally constructed in 1928, was added to the National Historic Register in 1987. Abbot Studios Team was tasked with remediating the exterior of the building including a complete roof replacement, masonry repairs and replacement, and complete replacement of window systems.
As part of the renovation work and in compliance with the City of Columbus Historic Preservation Commission requirements, the design included an investigation into the original details of the windows and detailing to match the windows of the original building as was constructed in 1928.
The design also included masonry remediation work including tuckpointing and cleaning, brick / stone replacement, and stone detailing replacement designed to match the original appearance of the brick and stone in place in 1928. Finally, a complete roof replacement and skylight replacement was designed to eliminate water infiltration into the building.
